World Graphics Day is celebrated on April 27, the anniversary of the founding of Icograda, the world body for graphic design, in 1963. It is a day to celebrate the profession of graphic and communication design. The day has been celebrated since 1995.

Pictures by Women: A History of Modern Photography presenta una colección de más de 200 fotografías realizadas por destacadas artistas como Diana Arbus, Claude Cahun, Imogen Cunningham, Florence Henri, Roni Horn, Rineke Dijkstra, Nan Goldin, Helen Levitt, Listette Model, Lucía Moholi, Tina Modotti, Cindy Sherman, Kiki Smith o Carrie Mae Weems, entre otras. I’ve definitely become an unconditional fan of Emilie Record. An artist born in France in 1980 who followed art classes (drawing, watercolor, oil painting, acrylic, sculpture) from 1986 to 1997.
She started to exhibit her work in France at age of 10. During this time she developed an accurate eye on shapes, lines, volumes and people, pulling her to become a designer.

She becomes an architect awarded by the French government in 2004. Strong of abilities to foresee tendencies and materials and attracted by cultural mixtures, she is joining the Chinese master Bing Thom in Vancouver (Canada) working on Arena Stage Theatre (Washington DC) and TTC University (Fort Worth, Texas). She gets hired later by the French AS Shanghai (Strasbourg Parliament, Paris Oriental World Institute IMA) and Philip Johnson where she won urban competitions in Asia. She then continued to work closer on Interior design projects and graphics, producing and developing powerful artistic concepts through sustainable approaches.

She now fully focuses on illustrations, paintings and graphic design.

Coming from her feelings, what she draws and paints is exhaling the strongest emotions and the most beautiful poses human are able to create. She’s just released a new series at nuzart.com: T World

Black & White are the safe choices in photography and the design world. The color of luxury is elegant and subdued. Yet, at the same time, even top-tier photographers, designers, artists and luxury brands have always used bright colors as well. It is not about either or. It is not b&w or color. Just try telling those who love Andy Warhol’s art, Madrid’s Terminal 4 airport interiors, Veuve Clicquot’s packages, Paul Smith’s designs or Renzo Piano’s Central St. Giles façades in London, that the “designer look” is always predominantly black and white…

And although bright color is often associated with being a sort of primitive, wild, folk-art aesthetic, and therefore black and white would seem the serious and civilized alternative, color is not just wild, frivolous, and primitive. In fact, we are seeing a clear increase in the use of color in the broad design world. We see more color in commercial and residential architecture, interior design, art, installations, products, marketing, and communications.

Ciudades en el cielo es una de las series de Annaka, fotógrafa y creadora digital que pertenece a la clase de artistas inconformistas autodidactas y autogestionaria con gran futuro en el espacio del arte contemporáneo. Concibe la creación artistica como un espacio de expresión personal y como una vivencia individual. De hecho el ordenador y la paleta gráfica son sus herramientas creativas, la cámara digital su documentalista. La mirada de la autora logra sensibilizar algo tan frio como la tecnología y hacer arte con ello, llámese surrealismo, cubismo o arte digital postmoderno, de lo que no cabe duda es de que el límite de su arte es el infinito…

Ciudades en el cielo  is the name of a series of artworks created by artist Annaka, a photographer and digital creator who belongs to that class of non-conformist artists, self-taught and self-managed with a great future in the field of contemporary art. She conceives artistic creation as a space for personal expression, as well as an individual experience. In fact, for her, the computer and the graphic palette are the tools with which to create, and the digital camera is her documentary source.  Annaka’s eyes are able to transform something as cold as the technology into art… You can call it surrealism, cubism or postmodern digital art. What is certain is that the limit of her creativity is endless, unlimited…With Ciudades en el cielo, Annaka offers us a creative, conceptual and imaginary vision of cities that emerge through her digital creations.

La ventana infinita, con texto de Andrés Pi Andreu (La Habana, 1969) e ilustraciones de Kim Amate (Terrassa, 1974) ha ganado el XXIX Premio Destino - Apel.les Mestres de literatura ilustrada.

Al premio, se han presentado más de 25 originales procedentes de diferentes lugares de España y otros países como EE.UU o Inglaterra. Destino Infantil & Juvenil publicará la obra ganadora el próximo mes de enero de 2010. La ventana infinita es un cuento mitad de risa, mitad de misterio, sobre dos niños que aprendieron que la amistad es una gran ventana que siempre debe estar abierta, aunque a veces asuste.

Kim Amate cuya formación y experiencia profesional ha sido principalmente en el ámbito del diseño y las artes gráficas, se inició en la ilustración cursando estudios en la Escola Llotja. La ventana infinita es su primer trabajo publicado como ilustrador. Actualmente, expone su obra pictórica El destí artificial de la truja blanca en la galería BAT de Barcelona.
