Shot at a theater festival in Baia Mare by ArdeleanDan, Romania Butoh is the collective name for a diverse range of activities, techniques and motivations for dance, performance, or movement inspired by the Ankoku-Butoh movement. It typically involves playful and grotesque imagery, taboo topics, extreme or absurd environments, and is traditionally “performed” in white-body makeup with slow hyper-controlled motion, with or without an audience. But there is no set style, and it may be purely conceptual with no movement at all. Its origins have been attributed to Japanese dance legends Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ohno.

Alturas| Tate

A cualquier persona que viva en Madrid le resultará familiar esta imagen tomada por Tate, y que muestra un plano contrapicado del edificio de Torres Blancas situado en Avenida de América.

La obra Alturas fue la primera torre del arquitecto Francisco Javier Sáenz de Oiza y se considera su  obra más lograda, ya que proponía en ella una síntesis de racionalismo y organicismo, capaz de modificar el debate arquitectónico de finales de los años 60. Torres Blancas también fue un experimento, una propuesta original, cuyo protagonismo en la cultura de los años 60 resultó decisivo en el apoyo a la vanguardia. Estos aspectos son los que quizás ha querido resaltar Tate para mostrar la esencia de este singular edificio en estado puro: un contrapicado que exagera la perspectiva aumentando el tamaño real de la torre, y los tonos grises propios del hormigon que conforman una construcción de gran altura destinada a viviendas. El proyecto de Sáenz de Oiza es en realidad una metáfora arquitectónica que crece orgánicamente como un árbol recorrido verticalmente por escaleras, ascensores e instalaciones, como si fueran venas o vasos leñosos que unen las viviendas con el suelo.

Alejandro Albertti alias “Guri” (Montevideo, 1977), cursó la carrera de Arquitectura en la Universidad de la Uruguay y la carrera de diseño de interiores en Seguidiseg. Creador audiovisual, diseñador gráfico y web ha creado campañas integrales para diversos eventos en Uruguay. Del 2007 al 2009 ejerció como coordinador general de proyectos en el Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales de Montevideo. Además ha Participado en más de 20 muestras colectivas de Arte en Uruguay, Argentina, Chile y España. Actualmente continúa trabajando como diseñador freelance y desarrollando su obra personal.

Cuatro series dedicadas a la naturaleza abstracta, los detalles y los paisajes, componen la Galería de Alberto Lamas en nuzart.com. Una galería que lejos de limitarse a exaltar el mero detalle óptico y objetivo de las pequeñas cosas, reúne belleza y originalidad. De nuevo nos encontramos ante la interpretación personal de objetos a modo de metáforas visuales donde una escultura de murano se confunde con una medusa marina, una silla de Verner Pantom se multiplíca dejando de manifiesto su versalitidad y su ergonomía, o donde una puesta de sol en una playa gallega proyecta un juego de luces y sombras entre reflejos, arena y rocas.

Simon Currell’s artwork (1976, Harrow - Middlesex. 33 yr old digital artist), has been motivated by over twelve years experience in employment as a telephone sales representative and is inspired by a perception of how corporate space has become commoditized within call centre workplaces. The artworks investigates how employees react to this perceived objectification through assimilating or appropriating objects within their work environment.

The artworks are created by manipulating and appropriating imagery, objects and general processes commonly associated with office-based work. The objects used for my artwork includes office partitioning, appliances, stationery and gadgets, whilst the photographic images he has generated also frequently refer to the general modular design plan of the call centre itself. The works establish and develops practicable artistic modes of inquiry, ones compatible with his own working terms of employment as a call center agent. Thus the artworks are frequently conceived in, experimented with and in some cases resolved from this workplace setting. The intention behind working in this way was to shift aspects of his artistic practice outside the conventional realm of a studio setting and relocate it firmly within the codes, conventions, expectations and environment of the companies facilitating my employment as a telesales representative.

The premise for such an investigation starts from the idea that company time and resources can become misused, reenergized and translated as an expressive means for communicating human emotion and creating art. It is his assertion that this act may be viewed as a humanizing impulse or form of resistance against what is arguably described as a dehumanizing and alienating workplace.

His artworks investigate spatial, material, digital and conceptual methods of interpreting call center workplaces. His research has used repetition, automation and homogeneity as an expressive means for creating art. As his artworks attest, these creative methods articulate a degree of dehumanization and methodical order that he perceives to be integral to the call center environment. The research develops a highly formal range of visual material that is approached with a deliberately fetishistic attention to detail. It is a body of work that investigates the culture of the contemporary call centre and navigates the processes of workplace assimilation and appropriation.

I’ve definitely become an unconditional fan of Emilie Record. An artist born in France in 1980 who followed art classes (drawing, watercolor, oil painting, acrylic, sculpture) from 1986 to 1997.
She started to exhibit her work in France at age of 10. During this time she developed an accurate eye on shapes, lines, volumes and people, pulling her to become a designer.

She becomes an architect awarded by the French government in 2004. Strong of abilities to foresee tendencies and materials and attracted by cultural mixtures, she is joining the Chinese master Bing Thom in Vancouver (Canada) working on Arena Stage Theatre (Washington DC) and TTC University (Fort Worth, Texas). She gets hired later by the French AS Shanghai (Strasbourg Parliament, Paris Oriental World Institute IMA) and Philip Johnson where she won urban competitions in Asia. She then continued to work closer on Interior design projects and graphics, producing and developing powerful artistic concepts through sustainable approaches.

She now fully focuses on illustrations, paintings and graphic design.

Coming from her feelings, what she draws and paints is exhaling the strongest emotions and the most beautiful poses human are able to create. She’s just released a new series at nuzart.com: T World

Zaragoza | Carlos G. González

Natural de la localidad madrileña de Alacalá de Henares (1978), Carlos G. González se ha formado como Técnico Superior en Imagen, especializado en fotografía de reportaje. Cuenta con una larga trayectoria profesional desarrollada en campos tan diversos como el fotoperiodismo, el reportaje social, la fotografía científica o la docencia. Comenzó su carrera profesional en el ámbito publicitario como ayudante del prestigioso fotógrafo Pasquale Caprile. Posteriormente se ha forjado en el fotoperiodismo trabajando para distintos medios de comunicación locales y regionales, tales como Diario de Alcalá, Nueva Alcarria o Guadalajara DosMil. En el ámbito de la investigación, ha trabajado becado por la Unión Europea en el Gabinete de Fotografía Científica de la Universidad de Alcalá. En esta Institución comienza a impartir cursos de fotografía, a los que se suma su labor como docente para el Taller de Fotografía del Ayuntamiento de Alacalá de Henares o para la Comunidad de Madrid.

En los últimos años ha simultaneado diversos proyectos, entre los que destaca la digitalización de los fondos fotográficos de la Guerra Civil para el Ministerio de Cultura. Tarea a la que se suma la actividad como fotógrafo para el Ministerio de Defensa en Madrid.

La labor creativa de Carlos G. González ha sido premiada en varias ocasiones: Primer Premio del Certamen Fotográfico Semana Santa 2007 en Guadalajara, Primer Premio Arquitectura Negra Guadalajara 2006 o el Primer Premio del Certamen 2006 “Me muevo sin humos” del Ayuntamiento de Alacalá, entre otros.

En la actualidad trabaja como freelance realizando reportajes sociales, fotografía de viajes y diversos encargos para producciones teatrales y espectáculos.

En el arte como en la moda, se reinventan los estilos, se crean reediciones de los diseños más conocidos y se reinterpretan a artistas del pasado. Todo se va para volver con aires nuevos, unos aires que que soplan a criterio de los nuevos artistas con una marcada influencia que se inspira mirando hacia atrás. Pedro Susial, artista digital y publicista retirado, reinterpreta el cubismo que tantas veces hemos visto en los cuadros de Picasso. Su obra Joven con sombrero, recupera las formas cubistas creando un mosaico de colores vivos y planos, para encerrar el rostro de una mujer marcado por líneas rectas a excepción de los labios, los ojos y el sombrero. Es aquí donde Susial propone su seña de identidad con un nuevo cubismo digital propio del siglo XXI.

In art, as it is in fashion, the styles are reinvented creating new editions of the most popular designs and reinterpreting artists of the past. Everything goes and comes back with new airs; airs that blow at the discretion of new artists with a strong influence that is inspired by looking back. Pedro Susial is a digital artist and a retired publicist who reinterprets the Cubism that many times we have seen in the paintings of Picasso. His “Joven con sombrero“, retrieves the cubist forms creating a mosaic of vibrant and “flat”colors, to enclose the face of a woman marked by straight lines with the exception of the lips, the eyes and the hat. It is here where Pedro Susial proposes his trademark with a new digital cubism which is very appropriate for the XXI century: today.
